Product Sizing Chart
The 5.11 Tactical Taclite Pro Shorts are literally the shorter and more lightweight version of the Taclite Pro Pant with all of the same durable ripstop poly-cotton fabric and flexibility you have come to expect. Like all 5.11 clothing these shorts have plenty of pockets located in easy to reach places for quick access to important kit like a mobile phone and more, there is even a dedicated 5.11 Tarani Knife pocket. The fabric besides being tough has also been coated with a HT Teflon Wear Resistant Finish so not only will it not fade but is soil and stain resistant as well. A heavy duty belt can also be attached with a sidearm thanks to thicker belt loops on the 5.11 Tactical Taclite Pro Shorts and everything is held together with bartacks, Prym snaps and horn buttons for extra durability.
Lightweight products feature lightweight materials and constructions to reduce the user’s load and aid mobility. Lightweight clothing products are thin and provide very little or no cushioning and insulation. They are best used for high-intensity or warm-weather pursuits, or employed as part of a layering system. Lightweight
Rip Stop is a lightweight nylon fabric with interwoven rip-stop reinforcement threads in a cross hatch pattern. It's woven with a coarse, strong warp and filling yarns at intervals so that tears will not spread. Rip-stop is used in construction of hot air balloons and yacht sails but in this case very effectively on outdoor clothing. Rip Stop
Made from strong and durable materials. Durable

The Taclite shorts are a great pare of shorts for hot days. If you are used to tactical pants and there storage capability your going to like these shorts. Typically your outfit for a hot day does not offer much storage space. I like the way in which these shorts solve that issue, enough room for all your stuff. I particularly like the pockets for your smart Phone.

Incredibly comfortable, but covers both the smart casual and casual holiday feel. I wear cargo shorts a lot on holiday but find myself constantly checking my pockets to see if stuff has fallen out. With these, there's no issue. The pockets are deep, they feel sturdy and secure, and again, the comfort is unrivalled!

In my experience as with all 5.11 the Taclite Pro shorts are very good quality and a tough construction. The Coyote colour is a medium khaki colour, darker than the other similar sandy colour in the various 5.11 products ranges. I purchased a size UK 32" waist and the size is a good representation of the size. The 9.5" shorts leg length is just over mid thigh length, I'm 180cm tall, the seat and leg areas are fairly generous and a "relaxed" fit. As stated in the product description there are numerous pockets which I have found very useful. I have a couple of pairs of Taclite Pro Pants (UK size 32) and I find the sizes between the 2 products very similar however I would say that the side pockets on either legs on the shorts are not quite as deep as Trousers (pants). I presume this is due to the 9.5" leg length of the shorts; still very usable pockets non the less. As mentioned as with all 5.11 products I would recommend these short. The delivery service on a standard UK delivery from Nightgear was very prompt (Thank you).

the same very good quality of the taclite long trousers

8 July 2014

The same comfort and usability as in the longer pants.

I have had a couple of pairs of these shorts for a while but these were bought for my holidays. They are comfortable even in hot conditions, extremely durable and can carry a lot of stuff. The front pocket can hold my iPhone easily. The cargo pockets can hold loads with really secure fastening. The rear pockets can hold loads. I can't praise these shorts enough.

15 August 2013

The shorts are great but a lot darker than the illustration of Coyote tan. I had hoped that they would be more of a light beige as the illustration shows.

Great quality shorts. Ride a bike every day and these shorts stand up to hard use.

Very well made. Comfortable fit

13 May 2013

Very good material choices during the design of this product, and very good features. The Crotch is deseigned with stretch and mobility in mind and the belt loops are placed for comfort whilst driving. Very clever item

This is actually a second pair of Taclite Pro Shorts I have bought. I tried other brands but none have come even close to having the versatility and features of the 5.11 shorts. Highly recommended whether it is for hiking or simply hanging around on a sun

Good quality garment and well fitting. Very durable material, good for sandy environments but cool enough in the soaring midday temperatures. The only shorts you'll need for a tour.
