Rite in the Rain
Over a century ago in Washington, USA, entrepreuner Jerry Darling was struggling with the logging industry’s need for a durable and strong material that could be written on in wet weather conditions. As a result, Darling developed a durable new material capable of being written on in the worst conditions like heavy rainstorms, mud, exposure to grease and oil and even heavy sweat.
The unique coating was initially hand-processed at home, and these humble beginnings have grown over the years as the coating process has been perfected and patented. Part of the improvement process was to work on the environmental effect of Rite in the Rain’s paper. The paper used is completely recyclable with other paper goods. RinR’s headquarters are designed to be energy efficient, the water based coating process only emits steam, off-cuts are recycled back into the manufacturing stream, printing inks are entirely soy based and all processing liquids and printing plates are recycled.
The All-Weather Writing Paper is a patented design which can be written on with all pencils, a Rite in the Rain pen, wax markers, crayons or oil pastels and paint. When dry, permanent markers and standard ballpoint pens won’t wash off. Our Nightgear range is due to be released shortly, where we’re stocking wire bound notebooks in a range of sizes and colours, as well as pens, pencils and refills.
